We arrived at Pocahontas State
Park Campground from the south.  Please
do not make the mistake we had in Google Mapping and take the ‘long way’ as we
incurred very curvy narrow roads and an underpass of 13’ 3” which scared us (We
came in from the south).  To get to the
campground, go in from Route 1 or I-95 to Route 288 that routes you through
Chesterfield.  Also, it’s a long way into
the State Park which we didn’t plan wisely for fuel.  However, there was a small town gas station
that had diesel pumps.  We made a
reservation however, we picked our site once we arrived because of our
size.  We chose a long pull through. Being
it was a weekday, we had no problem with finding one.  Evenso, we thought this State Park was a
little pricy considering how far off the beaten path it is which used more $$
for fuel and its amenities were minimal.  This campground is very wooded so be aware of
RV placement (ie. Slideouts, awnings, etc.).
Each site is furnished with a picnic table and fire pit.  Being it was during the week in the spring,
it was pleasantly quiet and peaceful.

There is a camp store, playground
and vending machines however, since we did not use them, we are unable to give
a proper review.  The dump station is
located near the entrance to the park.
From the looks at map, there’s plenty of hiking trails, however, where
they go or the complete trail system is unknown to us; we didn’t use it.

The bath house was average for
State Parks.  They were clean; three
showers stalls were roomy.  We did not
see or use the laundry facilities so we can’t give a review on those.  Being we did not stay very long, we did not
look into the services or other amenities.

Quiet time is 10am-6pm.  No more than two vehicles and six people per
site.  Pets are welcome but must be on a
