YELP – APP Review

Since beginning our travels, a fellow foodie friend told us about this cool free phone app called YELP.  It’s a participation app based on user reviews  geographically maps the user to area restaurants and businesses. All you have to do is download the free app on your mobile device and then click on one of the categories or type in the name of the establishment you want to find.
Considering we are constant travelers not familiar with the local burger joints, dives, drive-ins and diners, YELP helps us incredibly.  Not only locating reputable restaurants, but we also locate local grocery stores, nail salons, post offices, breweries and wineries, etc.
Since we are ‘review readers’, it gives us an idea of what to expect.  Some of the examples of restaurants that we’ve found on Yelp are Mollica’s Italian Market & Deli in Colorado Springs, The Mixing Bowl in Gering, Nebraska and Giovanna’s Pizza in Columbus, Georgia; and yes, we try to leave fair reviews ourselves to help others looking for the same.
Each business that is listed on Yelp gives address, phone, website, delivery or reservations options, etc.  Quite a handy app for the traveler or new resident who is trying to find their way around their new surroundings.  As a user, you can leave fair reviews and share a photo of your experience, product or service.  Likewise, businesses who monitor their business on Yelp can respond to user reviews; mostly in cases of negative reviews and trying to make things right.
YELP was founded by two former Paypal employees in 2004 and became a public entity in 2011.  In March of 2014, Yelp Added features for ordering and scheduling manicures, flowers, golf and legal consultations, amonth other things through the app.
