There is a huge plethora of RV trip planning apps and websites that are an incredible resource for finding campgrounds, overnight parking, dump stations, dining and fuel. Here’s some of our recommendations for RVers, campers or roadtrippers alike!
Depending on whether you have an Apple product or Android device may depend on how availability and how structural the app is. We found some apps aren’t available on Androids but you certainly could utilize them on your iPad or Mac or windows based computers. So, as you’ll see, there’s several different options.

BEST RV TRIP PLANNING APPS and WEBSITES
These RV trip planning apps and websites are listed in alphabetical order. Please note, some apps may be available in Android, Apple or both. Underline indicates hyperlink available. Some of the apps listed below may be free but with in-app purchases or may charge a subscription fee.
AllStays Camp & RV – Tents to RV Parks
It’s time you enjoy the journey. AllStays Camp and RV – Tents to RV Parks app is one of the most complete and popular RV trip planning and camping apps that helps you find and filter places and services with or without internet. Tents, RV resorts, parking lots, fuel, rest areas, repairs, tunnels, even inclines. Not available for Android.
AllStays Walmart Overnight Parking
This AllStays Walmart Overnight Parking app plots every Walmart store in the USA and Canada on the map view.
It uses location services to find your location and as you move. GPS based, it lists all Walmart locations that allow RV parking and location of where to park along with Walmart contact info. Filter map to see if a particular Walmart has fuel, pharmacy, garden center, a restaurant and much more. Not available for Android.
Campendium
Campendium has tens of thousands of places to camp, from swanky RV parks to free remote destinations.
This crowd-sourcing resource ranks as the most popular RV trip planning smartphone app and website amongst full-time, seasonal and even weekend campers, including ourselves. It’s managed by a team of full-time travelers and reviewed by over 200,000 members. Not available for Android.
GasBuddy
Locate fuel stations with the lowest-priced gas or diesel near your location. Filter the search results by price, location, brand, and amenities like car washes, restaurants and restrooms.
Google Earth
Explore the whole world from above with satellite imagery, 3D terrain of the entire globe, and 3D buildings in hundreds of cities around the world. This is essential for big rig RVs to gauge parking site size. And, Google Earth is interactive; you can add photos, videos and customize your view.
We use Google Earth to also determine if we can boondock by seeing terrain and tree canopies that affect our solar panels. It’s also great for big rigs to get a good picture of streets and roadways.
iExit
iExit helps you decide where to take pitstops when traveling US interstates. It uses your device’s location to determine where you are on the highway, and then displays upcoming exits in real time.
The default mode shows a summary of each exit ahead, but you can also search among upcoming exits. Search upcoming exits for businesses (like Starbucks, Cracker Barrel, or KOA Campgrounds), amenities (like WiFi, Playground, or Truck Parking), rest stops, hotel deals, and more. This is an app-only. There is no website.
Roadtrippers
Plan your road trip with friends or find an amazing place nearby you never knew existed. You’re always 5 minutes away from something awesome! Roadtrippers app is location access based.
This RV travel planner app will help you map out your route, list attractions, restaurants, shopping and services with crowd-sourced reviews, photos as well as contact info.

RVillage
RVillage allows you to easily connect with other RVers, RV dreamers, campers, and otherwise “nomadic” people wherever you are. Thousands of crowd-sourced groups with discussion feeds by interest.
You can customize your profile and create photo albums to share photos of your travels. There’s an option to set all of your push notifications to your own specifications. It shows an interactive map that updates your location as you travel and find other RVers around you or along your route.
You can also chat with people in conversation feeds, group feeds, and private messaging. Additionally, you can create events and get-togethers and invite people around you at your destinations.
RV Dump Stations
RV Dump Stations is community-based app listings include contact information, water availability, hours, maximum rig length, etc.
This app shows over 7,200 RV dump stations throughout the US. and Canada. Includes rest areas, truck stops, KOAs and more.
The app owner wants to expand their RV dump station database as much as possible to help as many RVers looking for dump stations. So, they have made it easy for you to easily submit a new RV dump station by simply tapping the button below the map. As a user, you can also correct or update dump station information.

Speedtest is a no-brainer app if you depend heavily on a wifi signal to work or keep in touch with your family and friends. It has real-time graphs that show internet connection consistency. Explore their database for free camping, paid camping, water, power, toilets, showers, and more. Find relevant information in the descriptions and reviews regarding cellular service, wifi, cleanliness, and amenities. No website available.
Waze
Always know what’s happening on the road with Waze. Even if you already know the way, Waze tells you instantly about traffic, construction, police, crashes, & more. If traffic is backed up on your route, Waze will change it to save you time.
Another community-based app, it provides alerts traffic, police presence, road or vehicle hazards and more on your drive. Get there faster with instant routing changes to avoid traffic and save you time. Know when you’ll arrive; your arrival time is based on live traffic data. You can also find the cheapest fuel along your route. Always find the way by choosing from a variety of voices to guide you while you drive
The Weather Channel
Stay up to date and prepared no matter the weather with The Weather Channel’s live radar, weather maps and severe weather alerts. Plus, they’ve got a whole range of useful weather features for you to plan ahead with confidence.
