As most who travel in RVs, digital devices have become our information hubs. There is a huge plethora of RV trip planning apps and websites that are an incredible resource for finding campgrounds, overnight parking, dump stations, dining and fuel. Here’s some of our recommendations for RVers, campers or roadtrippers alike!

Depending on whether you have an Apple product or Android device may depend on how availability and how structural the app is. We found some apps aren’t available on Androids but you certainly could utilize them on your iPad or Mac or windows based computers. So, as you’ll see, there’s several different options.

This AllStays Walmart Overnight Parking app plots every Walmart store in the USA and Canada on the map view.

It uses location services to find your location and as you move. GPS based, it lists all Walmart locations that allow RV parking and location of where to park along with Walmart contact info. Filter map to see if a particular Walmart has fuel, pharmacy, garden center, a restaurant and much more. This crowd-sourcing resource ranks as the most popular RV trip planning smartphone app and website amongst full-time, seasonal and even weekend campers, including ourselves. It’s managed by a team of full-time travelers and reviewed by over 200,000 members. Not available for Android.

Locate fuel stations with the lowest-priced gas or diesel near your location. Filter the search results by price, location, brand, and amenities like car washes, restaurants and restrooms.

Google Earth

Google Earth App Button

Explore the whole world from above with satellite imagery, 3D terrain of the entire globe, and 3D buildings in hundreds of cities around the world. This is essential for big rig RVs to gauge parking site size. And, Google Earth is interactive; you can add photos, videos and customize your view.

We use Google Earth to also determine if we can boondock by seeing terrain and tree canopies that affect our solar panels. It’s also great for big rigs to get a good picture of streets and roadways.

iExit

iExit App Button

iExit helps you decide where to take pitstops when traveling US interstates. It uses your device’s location to determine where you are on the highway, and then displays upcoming exits in real time.

The default mode shows a summary of each exit ahead, but you can also search among upcoming exits. Search upcoming exits for businesses (like Starbucks, Cracker Barrel, or KOA Campgrounds), amenities (like WiFi, Playground, or Truck Parking), rest stops, hotel deals, and more. This is an app-only. There is no website.
