Trolley Tour Tips

Before we get started with our top trolley tours in the U.S., here’s a few tour tips to make your sightseeing adventure fun and memorable.

      1. Make your reservations as soon as you can. These rolling sightseeing tours sell out quickly, especially on weekends, holidays and summer months. In addition to accessing your reservation via smartphone, we highly recommend you to screenshot your reservation as well as have a paper copy in hand for verification.
      2. Review the tour map and the trolley tour stops prior to arriving. See which attractions you wish to hop off to go spend more time at.
      3. Get a good night’s sleep the night prior to your trolley tour. Make sure your children are well rested as well.
      4. Start your city tour early when the trolley tours open. You may have to stand in line for awhile to get checked in and your boarding pass(es).
      5. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Though most bus and trolley tours themselves take up to 2 hours if you stay on, you will be getting off and on the trolley often to visit each attraction.
      6. Check your favorite weather app. You may need to bring a light jacket or sweater, sun protection (hat, sunglasses and sunscreen), rain ponchos and small umbrella.
      7. It’s going to be a long day. Pack things you may need in your sightseeing bag
      8. Use Google Maps or Apple Maps to find restaurants near each designated stop.
      9. Pack a few easy healthy snacks and your own water to hold you over between meals. I personally recommend taking a water bottle with filter that you can fill most anywhere there’s a water fountain or restaurant before you leave.
      10. Collapsible wheelchairs may be accommodated at any stop. Several trolleys are equipped with a lift for non-collapsible chairs/scooters or child strollers. Call the number on your ticket in advance to plan accordingly.
      11. Be aware that some double decker trolley tours may charge extra for top level seating. Also, consider inclement weather where there’s open air seating. It can get really cold or hot as well as get wet on rainy tour dates.
      12. Leave your pets home or in your RV. Only Service Dogs are permitted on trolley tours and tour buses. This excludes ESA and Therapy animals.
      13. Gratuities are not included in the tour prices. Tip your bus drivers and trolley tour guides accordingly (they may be the same person or two separate staff members).
      14. I recommend if you have the time to make one complete circle around on the trolley first to get a feel of points of interest or attractions you may want to disembark later for.

So, now it’s time to see where all the top sightseeing trolley tours in the U.S.
