While in Western Nebraska, we re-visited the Agate Fossil Beds National Monument.  We’ve been there before on a motorcycle adventure a couple years prior but wanted to return to hike a little and get our National Park Passport Stamps.

We'll be the first to admit, finding decent afford We'll be the first to admit, finding decent affordable campgrounds here in Florida this time of year has been a challenge. It's a snowbird RV destination and unless you really know where you want to camp or park a whole year in advance, you have to sift through what's left and hope you get a campsite that won't put a hole in your pocket. 🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴 Since our RV is small, it's not been too horrendous; though still a challenge. But can you imagine our elation when we happened upon THIS! It's an Army Corps of Engineers campground in Florida. The waterfront view is wonderful! It makes up for those "pass the Grey Poupon" RV parks we despise (but, they're necessary). 🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴 Typically, these kinds of fill up as soon as they release the reservation window with locals who book every weekend or weeks at a time leaving the travelers out to find something else. Personally, we wished federal and state campgrounds limited how many days and weekends can be reserved based on the license plate of the RV or camper. But, that's a pipe dream. 🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴🌞🌴 So, when we do happen to score one of these amazing sites, we are super grateful for those cancellations. This one happened to be cancelled precisely when we were just browsing the Recreation.gov website. So exhilarating yet scary at the same time! We pad So exhilarating yet scary at the same time! We paddled deep in the Mangrove forest where living things lurk in the rooted brackish waters. We ended up having to take our paddles apart to navigate through the tunnels. We looked everywhere all around us for unexpected surprises. I was so afraid that a snake, croc or gator was going to meet us. But, still surrounded by such a biological wonder, it made us forget that part. 🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊 Did you know that Mangroves, salt marshes and sea grass lock away carbon at up to five times the rate of tropical forests. 🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴 Mangrove forests make up one of the most productive and biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet. They grow in a variety of depths of salt water, their roots sticking up out of the mud, with fish, crustaceans and a host of other species living between tree trunks. 🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴 Mangroves have the ability to absorb up to four times more carbon dioxide by area than upland terrestrial forests 🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊🌴🐊 The remarkable traits of the mangrove ecosystem translate into a wide variety of goods and services that we benefit from. These play a critical role in supporting human well-being by delivering the necessities of life like food, shelter and livelihoods. At the same time mangroves reduce loss of property and vulnerability of local communities.

Tucked in tight for the next 4 days in Somewhere, Tucked in tight for the next 4 days in Somewhere, Florida. Fantastic private boondocking at Coastie Shipmate’s. Time to put those @renogysolar solar panels and @battlebornbatteries to work again! It’s been awhile since not being plugged in. So, it’s a great feeling for us. 🌴🌞🐊🌞🌴🌞🐊🌞🌴 Great weather, palm trees and peaceful quiet. Big change from our last destination where we were packed in like sardines at an RV park near St. Pete’s. 🌴🌞🐊🌞🌴🌞🐊🌞🌴 We actually prefer boondocking because of the privacy and dark skies. Plus, we are doing our part by lessening our carbon footprint being off the grid. Much to be said about leaving the chaos of traffic and hustle bustle of life to enjoy the palm forest. 🌴🌞🐊🌞🌴🌞🐊🌞🌴

We headed out and parked in the same parking lot as the boat launch. But man, oh man, the weather and water was just perfect to go for an afternoon paddle instead.
