Though our luxury fifth wheel didn’t need a major RV renovation taking it down to bare bones such as removing cabinets, major reconstruction, we did make some incredible cosmetic modifications and improvements. One of which was replacing our carpet and sheet vinyl with new solid surface plank flooring.
Our RV kitchen backsplash in our fifth wheel is a bit different from the popular peel and stick backsplash tiles that other RV owners installing in their RV kitchens. Here’s our cool DIY backsplash that is affordable and durable with a fun pop of color and texture! We also are including our step-by-step installation guide.

As boondocking RVers, we needed to find a way to procure potable drinking water without having to pack up our fifth wheel to find a clean potable water source. After a little research, we found the AquaTank water bladder. This is a complete game changer allowing us to stay off grid longer without having to relocate our RV.
The whole point of RV boondocking is to camp in quiet, remote places whether it’s on BLM land, on the beach, on a farm or in someone’s driveway. However, that comes with a price. Six months into our newfound boondocking enjoyment, we decided to upgrade our fifth wheel with solar panels and an efficient energy management system.
Whether you’re a full-time RVer like ourselves, or a weekend camper, van camper, automobile traveler or even a boater, you’ll want to take some tech toys with you so you can be plugged in. However, if you’re like us, once you go off the grid, you’ll need to rethink your electronic peripherals because not all can work without being plugged in to a 120 volt outlet.
My Old Kentucky Home is known for several notorious icons; Corvettes and Colonel Sanders, Bluegrass and Bourbon. Kentucky is also recollected for a huge cash crop; tobacco. However, there’s something else inside those black-tarred tobacco barns that’s smokin’ hot!
There is nothing like coming home from the Farmer’s Market with a basket full of fresh vegetables and herbs especially right before Cinco de Mayo! Its one of my favorite times in our RV galley. Like an artist with a new art set, I love to set my palette of beautifully colored fresh ingredients and create a culinary masterpiece. One of them is my Chipotle Lime Pico de Gallo.
