RV batteries are crucial to the operation of a motorhome, camper and even campervans. They also dictate what kind of camping experience you’ll have based on the battery type, condition and energy storage capacity. But, because there are 4 different types of RV batteries and a plethora of battery brands on the market today, it’s easy to be confused on which RV battery type you can install in your motorhome, camper or van.
Upon buying our Winnebago View Class C motorhome, the first thing we needed to upgrade was our solar panels, RV batteries and energy management system. Our Winnebago View solar upgrades and improvements to our Class C motorhome’s off grid electrical system and battery storage now allows us to boondock and stay off the grid longer.
In mid 2018, we installed 600 amp hours of Battle Born GC2 12 volt lithium batteries in our fifth wheel so we could power our RV while camping off the grid. Here’s what we learned and our assessment of these state of the art lithium ion batteries.
