But red coloration comes from a pigment called anthocyanin, which has to be made afresh as autumn takes hold. 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁 The red color is actively made in leaves by bright light and cold. The crisp, cold nights in the fall combine with bright, sunny days to spur production of red in leaves – especially in sugar maple and red maple trees. “Did they get off?” ⚓️🇺🇸🏅🇺🇸 “Did they get off?” ⚓️🇺🇸🏅🇺🇸⚓️ Those words may not be recognizable to anyone, but to each and every Coast Guard member, they represent a true hero: Signalman 1st Class Douglas Munro, the service’s only Medal of Honor recipient. ⚓️🇺🇸🏅🇺🇸⚓️ Today is Munro’s Remembrance Day as it’s the anniversary of his heroic yet fateful actions. He is our Hero. We always try to educate society about this important piece of Coast Guard history and they ARE a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. ⚓️🇺🇸🏅🇺🇸⚓️ We got to visit Douglas Munro’s gravesite in Cle Elum, Washington. If you’re in that area, please go! Honor him and his ultimate sacrifice by giving even a few moments of your time. He deserves that honor and respect.Please read his citation of how he earned the Medal of Honor posthumously in our comments! However, that all went awry for us due to C19. So, if you’ve been following our 2020 adventures, you’d notice that our compass pointed to a different direction. We’ve enjoyed Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The past couple weeks, we’ve been spending our time in PA with our families. It certainly isn’t a bad detour. Because we get THIS! “We're so busy watching out for what's just ahea “We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us that we don't take time to enjoy where we are.” 🍇🍷🌳🍷🍇🍷🌳🍇 We had an incredibly busy week with family due to the passing of a family member from Lisa’s family. Emotional on all counts. Life happens. But despite the reason of our reunion, it was awesome to see and catch up. Seeing how much the kids are growing up. Spending precious time with our elders. And just enjoying each other. But, it was time for us to go before it gets too cold (for us). 🍇🍷🌳🍷🍇🍷🌳🍇 So, on the way to Dan’s family hometown in north central PA, we stopped for an overnight to catch our breath and a few sips at one of favorite @harvesthosts in North East, Pennsylvania. We feel so blessed to get to see the fruits before harvest and smell the grapey aroma in the air. 🍇🍷🌳🍷🍇🍷🌳🍇 And this is how we support our hosts.
